The Paris based former student of Dutilleux begins this piece in an atonal vein, full of tense contrasts, which gradually changes to arrive at a modal, atmospheric calm in the final section. The piece starts with a duet between the first piano and the marimba and finishes with a duet between the second piano and the vibraphone, the middle section is played by all instruments in varying combinations. Playing instructions in German and French. (Made available through Halleonard)
